![]() If you look at the ARX-2B design (the current product which includes radials as part of the design) you'll see the coaxial feedline outer conductor is bonded to the radials and the supporting mast 1/2 wavelength below the feedpoint of the antenna. ![]() ![]() That's good for lightning protection but bad for performance with many lengths of mast, and can detune the antenna. The mast goes up inside the base of the antenna and is electrically bonded to it. Another point about the Ringo design: Not only does the coaxial cable outer conductor surface become part of the antenna, but so does the supporting mast if it is conductive (metal).Īs such, there are critical lengths for both and this is why ferrites alone (over the coax, below the feedpoint) don't do the decoupling job well with this antenna. ![]()
